INERCO BRINGS 2016 TO A CLOSE WITH A TURNOVER OF 51.2 MILLION EUROS AND A GROWTH OF 25% IN THE NATIONAL MARKET

INERCO, a technology and consulting company on the international stage, has brought 2016 to a close with a turnover of 51.2 million euros, a figure that suggests a maintenance of the levels reached in 2015.

2016 has been a year marked by the upturn of the national market —up 25% compared to 2015—, which validates INERCO’s positioning in key areas of advanced services for the industrial sector. José González Jiménez, CEO of INERCO, highlights the excellent response of the Spanish market, “that has endorsed our position as a reference in the fields of Environmental Consulting, Industrial Safety and Occupational Risk Prevention,” as well as the strength of the technological area of environmental solutions, “with major projects in energy efficiency and emissions reduction for the main operators of the energy industry or in areas such as industrial acoustics.”

“The figures obtained by the Group in the past year show the skill of its professionals,” points out José González, to adapt to the conditions of a market “strongly influenced by the situation of key raw material industries —like oil and gas or mining—, especially in Latin America.”

INERCO’s gross operating profit (Ebitda) in 2016 reached 3.5 million euros in a year which, according to the CEO, “was clearly supported by investment and the strengthening of our operational structure and our staff.” Therefore, 2016 has registered an increase of 7 per cent in the INERCO Group staff —11 per cent in the case of Latin America —, “highly qualified professionals from 11 different nationalities who have elevated our workforce to more than 450 people, to which has been added around 100 external contractors for specific projects in the eight countries in which we are present, which reflects that commitment to our staff is a constant in the daily work of INERCO.”

INERCO is made up of a total of 17 companies that offer integral solutions in the areas of environmental, energy and social sustainability, industrial and occupational safety, as well as technology such as consultancy services. For 2017, the forecasts regarding turnover revolve around 52 million euros.

INERCO’s Strategic Plan has the fundamental pillars of technological development and market internationalisation, “especially in countries in which INERCO can bring their know-how, the fruit of over thirty years of dedication to sustainable industrial development.” To this effect, INERCO has reinforced its corporate structure with the creation of two new business directive positions which cover its main areas of activity in the world: one which unites Technology and Engineering and another, Consultancy, focussing on the fields of Industrial Safety, Risk Prevention and the Environment (HSE).

At the head of Technology and Engineering Management is Francisco J. Rodríguez Barea, Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, associate professor at the University of Seville and head of the Division of Industrial Processes. Francisco Hoces—Moral, industrial engineer, is the new Director of Consulting, after his period as General Manager of INERCO Consulting Colombia from 2010.

INERCO’S MAIN MILESTONES IN 2016

The emissions reduction and energy optimisation technologies developed by INERCO have been implemented successfully in the Thermal Hubs of La Loma and Enemansa (Enel Green Power, currently owned by ENCE), Lada and Velilla (Iberdrola) in Spain, as well as those in Cartagena and Termozipa (Emgesa -ENEL Group) in Colombia, a new accolade to INERCO’s commitment for innovation in this field.

In the field of acoustic technologies, INERCO has reinforced its position as a reference point for solutions for the industry, in Spain as well as in Latin America, with particular impact in Mexico and Chile. In the latter, intense activity has continued for the main energy operators in terms of monitoring and emissions control.

Likewise, INERCO’s industrial water purification technology is also present in the plant that multinational automobile company Chassis Brakes has in Poland.

INERCO has maintained its position as CEPSA’s benchmark engineering company, with work in energy efficiency and optimisation in the San Roque (Cádiz) and La Rábida (Huelva) refineries and for the ENEL group in the Coastline Thermal Hub (Almería).

In the area of Restoration of Polluted Soils important projects have been carried out in Spain and Latin America, like the one implemented at REPSOL service stations in Peru.
