INERCO<\/a><\/strong> has developed the Environmental Compensation Plan carried out by the Consorcio SES Magdalena in the National Natural Park Salamanca Island Road Park (VIPIS)<\/strong>, in Colombia.<\/p>\n

This important environmental action \u2014centred on one of the ecosystems of reference in the country\u2014 has involved fauna and flora classification work in the areas connected to those chosen for environmental restoration.<\/p>\n

In addition, as part of the project, hydraulic rehabilitation in 5,822.78\u00a0metres of clogged secondary drainpipes was prioritised, which has generated dehydration and hyper-salination processes of the soil that affected the mangrove\u2019s ecosystem. Thus, we plan to implement activities involving sowing and the establishment of mangrove centres through participative strategies with rural communities in the area.<\/p>\n

In total, the action carried out in this Compensation Plan has affected a surface area of over 120 hectares, despite the fact that only 42 hectares should have been included.<\/p>\n

Area of International Importance for the Conservation of Birds<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Salamanca Island Road Park National Natural Park is considered the international airport of migratory birds, therefore it is classified as an Area of International Importance for the Conservation of Birds (AICA). In addition, its biodiversity has made it deserving of the title Biosphere Reserve, Ramsar Wetland of the lagoon complex Ci\u00e9naga Grande de Santa Marta and it is one of the areas where relicts of mangrove forest still live.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
