The\u00a0Green C\u00a0<\/a>Ports\u00a0<\/strong>project\u00a0<\/a>has been awarded\u00a0the World Port Sustainability Award 2020 by the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH),\u00a0<\/strong>in the category of \u2018Resilient Infrastructure\u2019.<\/p>\n

This initiative, co-financed by the EU’s Connecting Europe Facility program, <\/strong>has been developed by a consortium made up of the Venice Port Authority, DBH, the Piraeus Port Authority (Greece), the Municipality of Piraeus, the Global Maritime Agency, Zen Travel, ICCS, Gas2Move, Bael\u00e0ria, the Port Authority of Valencia and INERCO, <\/strong>coordinated by the Valencia Port Foundation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The final objective of this award-winning project is to reduce the impact of port operations on cities and to control emissions in some of the main European ports. <\/strong>Thus, Green C Ports <\/strong>will enable the installation of a network of environmental and meteorological sensors to pilot a platform of port environmental performance and the modelling of artificial intelligence algorithms to <\/strong>inform port users and clients and citizens on the main environmental parameters derived from port activities.<\/p>\n

Innovative solutions to reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality, reduce noise levels, forecast crane productivity and measure emissions in real time are <\/strong>also planned for the ports of Venice (Italy), Piraeus (Greece), Bremerhaven (Germany), Wilhelmshaven (Germany) and Valencia.<\/p>\n

INERCO <\/strong>will be responsible for the implementation of seven sets of latest generation sensors for continuous monitoring of air quality, <\/strong>which will determine key parameters to support management and operations in the Port, and where the company VIRA GAS will <\/strong>also collaborate in a timely manner. In addition, the data will be integrated into a digital platform developed by INERCO, <\/strong>to later send the information to the Port, once it has been processed with models developed by applying artificial intelligence and business intelligence.<\/p>\n

Antonio Alvarado, manager of INERCO Inspection and Control, <\/strong><\/a>highlights the important scope of this award-winning project, “because the Port Authorities will be able to control that ships comply with environmental regulations and will be ready to define incentive schemes and financial bonuses that will be applied to those shipping companies whose ships are more efficient for the environment”.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
