INERCO’S ABACO TECHNOLOGY FOR THE REDUCTION OF EMISSIONS AND ENERGY OPTIMIZATION, SUCCESSFULLY INTRODUCED IN THE THERMAL POWER PLANTS OF LADA AND VELILLA (IBERDROLA)
INERCO has successfully introduced its ABACO technology for the reduction of emissions and energy optimization in two of the thermal power plants operated by Iberdrola in Spain: those of Velilla (Palencia) and Lada (Asturias).
In the case of the Palencia plant, INERCO has installed the ABACO—Flexicom technology in the plant´s six coal mills, which brought on the first stage of a series of proposed measures for the fulfilment of the objectives defined by the Industrial Emissions Directive of the European Commission (EC) referred to in the NOx chapter. Good results obtained in this first phase have allowed IBERDROLA to have today a real alternative that is reliable and at a lower cost to the catalytic applications of technologies.
This operation carried out in Velilla’s Thermal Power Plant is joined with others performed in other plants with regards to optimization and efficiency, like the one implemented in the Thermal Power Plant of Lada, a one-phase project that has allowed for compliance with the current regulations of NOx emissions. As a matter of fact, INERCO has installed in this plant, as also in the case of Velilla, the ABACO-Flexicom technology, new burners of low NOx, an optimized BOFA system and a SNCR system with urea injection, which has allowed it to achieve excellent results with a substantially lower investment than what would have incurred via catalytic application.
Enrique Tova, Director of the Division of Industrial Processes of INERCO, acknowledges that these actions carried out in both thermal power plants “demonstrate our capacity to offer, with our own technology, comprehensive solutions, providing a competitive advantage for the end client at that time of undertaking these projects.”
