INERCO, along with its local partner UNICON, will implement its combustion and emission reduction technology in a thermal power plant in India

The company West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited has awarded INERCO a contract for the optimization of one of its boilers at the Bandel thermal power station, located in the West Bengal area, 50 kilometers from Kolkata.

The project includes the supply of 24 low-NOx burners and OFA (Over Fire Air) for a 210 MW plant. The proprietary design has been fully developed by INERCO. Both, INERCO and UNICON will be responsible for the supply of the components, supervision and commissioning of the new combustion optimization system.

Enrique Bosch, Managing Director of INERCO ETECH indicated that “our technology provides significant reduction in the generation of NOx during the combustion process, a key aspect for a market like India, where new environmental legislation has set more restrictive emissions limits aimed to improvthe air quality of the country ”.

On the other hand, Pandian Ponram, CEO of UNICON, highlighted the importance of this project, “a remarkable gateway for INERCO to the Indian market, which is one of the largest consumers of coal worldwide for electricity generation. INERCO’s experience and technology will be key to compliance with current and future environmental regulations”.

The supply of these burners, completed with the OFA, will achieve a significant improvement in the boiler combustion process, increasing efficiency and reducing CO2 and NOx emissions.

INERCO´s technology has been successfully applied in an important number of projects for relevant companies in the power sector in Europe and America such as IBERDROLA, NATURGY, ENEL and ATCO Power.
