Technology for the energy sector from Virtualmech, selected in the third “INERCO Open Innovation” call for proporsals

INERCO Open Innovation, the programme for accelerating innovative initiatives applied to sustainable industrial development, promoted by INERCO, has selected a new project from within its third call, completed on 30 June.

The company Virtualmech’s proposal has been selected by the panel of judges, which valued the wide range of possibilities offered by its technological solutions for, among other things, the concentrated solar power (CSP) and energy storage industries, both areas in which INERCO operates and has proven experience.

The INERCO Open Innovation panel of judges highlighted the technological component of this engineering, based on advanced tools for modeling, programming and numerical simulation of mechanical behaviour of systems, which are “vital areas in the new technological solutions being developed in the field of renewable energy and energy storage”, according to José Antonio Peregrín, Head of Innovation at INERCO.

In this respect, Peregrín highlighted the background the INERCO Open Innovation programme already has, “which works in parallel with the two projects selected thus far in key areas for INERCO, like industrial safety and energy optimisation”. Thus, Virtualmech’s proposal joins that of Vira Gas Imaging and its systems for detecting and quantifying gas emissions, and that of Dira Reliability, focused on the digitalisation of predictive process maintenance.

The INERCO Open Innovation programme involves business support for Virtualmech in a closely linked technological environment to INERCO’s business areas and strategic sectors. Additionally, it involves economic support from € 3,000 for the development of its project, as well as technical, business development and management support.

The fourth edition of the INERCO Open Innovation is now accepting new applications. All of the information, requirements and acceptance of entries, is available via their web page (www.inercoopeninnovation.com), where the required information may be filled in.
